Utopia Forge was established in 1981. Specialising in artistic blacksmithing we cover all aspects of decorative metal art work.
Andy Quirks roots originate in a small village in the South of Ireland. Blacksmithing has been in his family for hundreds of years and that is probably why he has always been fascinated, from a very early age, by the magical combination of a hammer and hot iron. Andy began his apprenticeship at Unicorn Forge at the age of sixteen and he was trained in the art of traditional blacksmithing by three old-school Master-blacksmiths. He took over the company in 1990 and began
practicing the art of contemporary metalwork, soon developing his own unique
style, which is a blend of imagination, tradition and modern technology. Over the years they have forged a strong partnership and they have produced many wonderful works of art, guided by the words: BY HAMMER AND HAND As ornamental Blacksmiths and Forgemasters practicing the art of traditional and contemporary hot metalwork we produce a wide range of fine quality products ranging from small personal works of art to custom made furniture, from gates to staircase balustrades and railings. We blend the ancient traditional techniques of blacksmithing with personal imagination and modern technology to bring you a unique item of function and beauty, naturally enhancing its chosen surroundings. At Utopia Forge we aim to please and surprise every customer with the quality and beauty of our products. We guarantee that our services will meet your highest expectations, from design and manufacture through to after-sales and maintenance. We have been asked on many occasions what we do and what we make, yet we are still struggling to find a satisfactory answer. We have custom made jewellery, clocks, lighting, village signs, interior, exterior and fireplace furniture, gates, railings, balustrades and architectural sculptures and we have designed so much more. We have carried out restoration work at Parliament Square, Westminster, and restored many other artifacts of historical interest. With such a variety of options and an open mind to create even more there is an infinite amount of possibilities. Over the years we have been asked to design and create in many periodic architectural styles, ranging from raw Medieval work to meticulous Renaissance pieces. From traditional Victorian scrollwork to the Art Nouveau, Rococo and Bauhaus architectural movements and on to today’s Contemporary style with its freedom to explore and express the limits of our present time. |
